When I found out we can legally purchase the prodrug of modafinil, a prescription medication I dispense nearly daily to my patients, I knew it was worth trying. I have known modafinil (Pro vigil, as it was originally marketed and dispensed before going generic) as an effective, FDA-approved option for patients with narcolepsy, shift-work sleep disorder, and adjunct therapy for depression, among other similar conditions. Off-label, it is commonly used to treat ADHD. Here’s my take after using adrafinil: It rapidly causes noticeable, positive effects such as increased and sustained energy, FOCUS (in caps because it’s huge for me, given my clinically diagnosed ADHD), and a mild to moderate improvement in mood. All this without ANY jitters, anxiety, or crash. After trying countless drugstore and nutrition store “nootropics,” this has been a game changer for me. No side effects to speak of, unlike the aforementioned gimmicks sold in store-fronts. All of those either had me sick to my stomach, caused overstimulation along with the typical anxiety and crash, or (most commonly) produced zero effects for me at all. It’s pretty pricey and shipping can opt for the expensive shipping methods. However, in my personal and professional opinion, it’s worth the money, as well as waiting out shipping.
